Fresh Home Decor

My wife has never been one to be satisfied with repetition. She always wants to try something new, whether in regard to clothes, food, activities, or otherwise. Nevertheless, we have been living in the same house for seventeen years now. I think the only way she has coped with the lack of variety has been through routinely changing our home decor. At least once a year she will buy a new set of decorations for any given room in the house. I can’t tell you how many times we have painted a bedroom in new colors.

Fortunately for me, my wife is a fan of themes. This makes understanding the new home decor a lot easier. For example, at one point we an animal print theme for our bedroom. This meant our bedspread was colored like a zebra, and there were tiger and cheetah pictures up. The kids currently have a bathroom covered in cartoon sea creatures. I find the idea of fishes staring at me through the shower curtain unnerving, but the kids like it. Their toothbrush holder is an octopus, and the soap bottle is shaped like a fish. However, I am a big fan of our living room theme. We have a bear rug, a moose head mounted on the wall, and painting of a pack of wolves.

The Healthy Cooking Blog Helps Me with Snacks

I feel like it is very important for me to feed my children healthy food, starting when they are young. I’m good at making healthy meals, but I have a really hard time with snack time. I was feeling depressed about it one day and I decided to look through some healthy cooking blogs to see if there was any examples of healthy snacks. A whole new world was opened before me and I saw endless possibilities of things that I had never before considered. One of the first snack recipes that I found was for homemade hummus with pitas or vegetables. I realized how simple it would be to mash up a can of chickpeas, season it to my taste and serve it to my kids.

Before I started reading the healthy cooking blog, my idea of snack time consisted of crackers and cheese or carrot and celery sticks with ranch dressing. Now I am serving easy snacks that are healthy too. I like the snacks so much that I make some for me too, especially on the days that I make parfaits with yogurt, strawberries and granola. I feel a lot more confident in the choices I am giving my children because I know that they are eating healthy food all day long.
