One of my daughters wears eye contacts and she recently asked me if she could get some colored eye contacts. Her eye color is a mix of brown and green, and she wanted to bring out the green color more, and she figured she could do this with colored eye contacts.
I said we could look into it and we went to her eye doctor’s office and inquired about the choices. I was surprised that there are so many options when looking for colored eye contacts. Plus, her doctor even let her take a few samples of different colors home with her so she could put them on and see which shades she liked best. My daughter said there was no difference in how the colored eye contacts felt on her eyes, and she also didn’t notice too much of a difference in how her vision was through the colored lenses. But she definitely liked how they looked when she saw herself in the mirror. I guess it is just like make-up; the colored lenses gave her a little boost in her self-image. I don’t see any problems in letting her wear colored lenses from time to time. It is not like she is changing some major feature. She is just enhancing what she has.

In our state, the lottery has gotten to be big business. There are about ten different games you can play each week, and the power ball jackpot was one hundred ninety million last week. I am sort of a lottery junkie. I know that the chances of choosing winning lottery numbers are one in one trillion, but I have the money to spare, and it is good fun to feel the rush of your number being called, even if you only get one right.
Ever since I got my smart phone, I have been looking for an app to help me quickly and easily check the winning lottery numbers. Since I have been playing the same numbers in all of the games for 15 years, it is easy for me to see at a glance whether I won or not. I finally found an app that gives me one screen with the date, the game, and the numbers in plain view. You simply tell the app which game you play by pointing it to the website that displays the numbers. The program then parses the content of the website and mines out the winning numbers. I hear that the next version will let you input your choices, and it will alert you and the lottery if you won. I’ll keep playing come hell or high water.

My friend and her husband bought a home about a year ago, and my husband and I wanted to do something to say congratulations. Buying a home for the first time is a really big deal, and she and her husband had been saving up for three years to buy a home. Instead of giving them a plant or something to decorate with, I thought it would be fun to give them a fruit basket.
Fruit baskets are such a lovely and unexpected gift because hardly anyone gives them, but they are such a good idea. In fact, fruit baskets are becoming a more popular trend, so while fruit isn’t the normal gift, people are beginning to catch on. Giving fruit lets someone know that you care and that you are giving them a gift that will be healthy and encourage them to eat well. My friend and her husband really liked their fruit basket, and they ate almost everything that was in it. There was a little too much fruit to eat all in one week, so my friend pureed the leftover strawberries and froze the juice for some strawberry sorbet that she was going to make a few weeks later. They really loved the fruit, and they were happy that it wasn’t another vase for their home.
