A Forwarding Mailing Address Can Make Any Move Less Stressful

Other times, we moved within the same state to locations that were only hours away. Each time we moved, we had to arrange with the post office for a forwarding mailing address. A forwarding mailing address is critical when we moved because each time, we left behind unfinished business. We had to pay the final bills on our utilities and we didn’t close those accounts until the day we moved. We needed to make sure that the utility bills were forwarded to the correct address. Although we gave our new address to many businesses and friends, we could not always guarantee that the information would be processed in time or that our friends would remember our new address. A forwarding mailing address helped to catch all the stray pieces of mail with the wrong address.
It is simple to set up a forwarding mailing address. The United States Post Office has a form that can be easily filled out online. The form asks if the move is permanent or temporary. If it is only temporary, the mail will be forwarded for up to six months and then delivery will resume at the original address. After the forwarding date is entered, the mail will automatically be redirected to the new address.
